The end of summer, sad as it may be, is also the beginning of what many consider the most beautiful season. Cooler temperatures and colorful leaves make it the perfect time to hit the road for a scenic drive. But, these perfect autumn days can have a few challenges. Ray Sands Glass wants you to enjoy your fall. So, watch out for these seven things that can cause wrecks and auto glass trouble this season.

  1. School traffic – School is back in session. Heavy traffic and school buses lead to sudden stops. Add in busy traffic and distracted drivers and your chances for a wreck go up tremendously. Always pay attention when driving near schools and buses and always STOP for the flashing lights on a school bus.
  2. Deer traffic – Expect to see a spike in deer sightings this time of year. Fall is mating season and deer are on the move. Pay especially close attention in the mornings and evenings as the sun starts to rise and set.
  3. Rain – Fall is often a rainy season. Early fall may bring harder rain and strong thunderstorms. Stay safe by driving carefully, obey the speed limit and improve your visibility in the rain with Aquapel. One application will last months! It will also make it much easier to remove snow and ice this winter! For $25 (a fraction of what other retailers sell it for) and about 15 minutes an experienced Ray Sands Glass technician will apply it for you.Sun – The sun’s angle during the fall creates a blinding glare. Keep a pair of sunglasses (or two) in your car and use sun visors as needed.
  4. Fog – As the weather changes, you can expect more foggy mornings and evenings. Never use your high beams to guide you through fog. Instead, use fog lights or low beams.
  5. Slick spots – Frost and ice can form quickly in shaded areas and on bridges and overpasses. Keep your eyes on the road and drive slowly if you suspect the roads are slick.
  6. Leaves – While fall is all about the beauty of the changing leaves, they can actually be dangerous. Wet leaves can be as slippery as ice. Use caution in areas with a lot of leaves on the road to reduce your chances of damaging your car and your auto glass.
  7. Sun – The sun’s angle during the fall creates a blinding glare. Keep a pair of sunglasses (or two) in your car and use sun visors as needed.
